To celebrate a decade of publishing contemporary photographic discourse, Loose Joints is thrilled to announce an exhibition of works by thirty-six artists from our catalogue, curated by Nicolas Poillot.
Poillot’s curation of the Loose Joints backlist explores the common editorial themes linking a decade of varied photographic works. These range from projects addressing cultural and political issues to monographs by visionary photographers, from underrepresented voices to celebrated artists. The connecting threads between these works are enhanced through an experimental exhibition design by architecture and design practice Avoir, and custom-mounted prints by Artifices.
"For years, my journey in photography—whether artistic, commercial, documentary, or educational—has evolved from a deep, almost obsessive relationship with photobooks into a more discerning and intentional engagement with the medium. This evolution naturally led me to collaborate with Loose Joints, one of today's most innovative independent publishers of contemporary photography. Together, we share a commitment to elevating underrepresented voices and offering fresh visual perspectives while maintaining a narrative integrity that enriches the photographic discourse. This curated sequence brings together images from Loose Joints' artists, whose work resonates with me on multiple levels. Nicolas Poillot is a creative and artistic director specialising in contemporary photography, based between Marseille and Paris. His work spans editorial and book design, exhibition curation, and commercial and branding projects. Balancing documentary and fashion photography with abstract visual approaches, Poillot's aesthetic is rooted in his expertise as an art director. Poillot is additionally a lecturer in photography at the renowned art school ECAL in Lausanne, Switzerland.
